Turns out, for Baylor Hail, maybe it is.
Hands down, my favorite Hail Raisers book of the series! LLV has managed to give us yet another couple that you somehow want to wrap up and keep protected, yet leave them free in order to find their happy. And she does it in a way that can bring humor when needed and tackles tough issues in a way that makes you stop and think that these same issues are occurring in the real world. How can you not fall in love with both Lark and Baylor, each broken in their own way? There's almost instant chemistry between these two when they meet, although the reason for their meeting isn't exactly a good time. But with their respective pasts, it's easy to see why they're both hesitant, perhaps bordering on reluctant, to step outside their comfort zone when it comes to anything beyond a fringe friendship. But there's something about Lark that has Baylor's protective instincts flaring and he finds himself wanting to be the reason she smiles. And Lark is equally surprised by the feelings she's developing for Baylor, since her last relationship was the stuff of nightmares.
